Midhurst, West Sussex

The team establishing the new South Downs National Park is based in Midhurst.

It takes about eight days to walk or three days to cycle the full length of the South Downs Way.

People have travelled along the South Downs Way for over 6,000 years.

The South Downs are formed from a thick band of chalk which was laid down between 100 and 60 million years ago.

The South Downs is England's newest national park, coming into effect on March 31, 2010.

Polo has been played since the 5th century BC.
