The islands of Corsica and Sardinia

Corsica is roughly the same size as Yorkshire.

There are 20 peaks over 2,000m on Corsica.

Corsica's local flag is infamously called The Moor's Head.

Sardinia is closer to Africa than Italy.

Sardinia is described as "lost between Europe and Africa and belonging nowhere" by DH Lawrence.

Languages spoken include Italian, Sardinian, and Catalan.
