Jawhar is home to the Jai Vilas Palace, built in the 14th century to house the tribal royal family.

Jawhar is known for its beautiful landscapes, with the Dabhosa Falls considered one of the most impressive sights in Thane.

The Warli tribe are known for their characteristic paintings depicting scenes from everyday life.

Although Warli painting is thought to be centuries old, they were only made known to the wider world in the 1970s.
