The Grand Canyon, a world wonder

The Grand Canyon is the third largest canyon in the world.

The Colorado River stretches 2,250 kilometres from the Rocky Mountains to the Gulf of Mexico.

More than 20 different kinds of rock make up the layers in the Grand Canyon.

Lake Powell, created by the Glen Canyon Dam, took 17 years to fill to capacity.

Hopi means ‘peaceful person’ in the native language.

The Grand Canyon Skywalk opened in 2007 allowing people to walk 20 metres over the edge of the canyon on a glass floor.
